Security And Biometrics Business Unit

This Unit specialises in the provision of Network & Internet Security Solutions as well as physical security, combined with our in-house developed Time and Attendance suite, across all market sectors:

Network security threats can be devastating to enterprise networks. Intellectual property, revenue, customer and company records, and other mission-critical resources are at risk. Unfortunately, enterprise networks often lack adequate security solutions – much less the human resources to recognize the business risks – until the damage is already done. While point-products providing security solutions for specific purposes may provide adequate protection against specific single-threaded threats, the new breed of blended-threats and attacks now utilizes a multitude of attack vectors. Furthermore, assembling an array of point products is costly and requires significant expertise to engineer, maintain and manage. Most small to medium size businesses cannot afford such overheads and yet, should tragedy strike, the potential business costs are enormous.

Fortunately, cost-effective, evergreen multi-threat protection is now available to businesses of any size. The FortiGate™ series of advanced security systems integrates all-in-one multi-threat protection into cost-effective plug-n-play security platforms that effectively block today’s blended attacks, including intrusion attempts, viruses, worms, phishing, spyware, spam and many other types of malware. The FORTINET FortiGuard™ global 24x7 threat detection and update service provides the networking industry’s fastest response time to ensure that the latest security threats are detected and automatic security updates are available before your business is impacted.

In physical security, when people refer to Access Control they usually have in mind the practice of restricting entrance to a property/building/room to unauthorized persons. Physical Access Control can be achieved in various ways: using human resources (bouncer, guard, receptionist, etc), mechanical systems (locks and keys) or via technological solutions such as card access system and biometric identification.

Physical Access Control is a matter of who, where, and when. In the past this was partially accomplished through keys and locks – if a door is locked, only someone with a key can enter and/or exit. However, this is no longer the most appropriate solution.

Electronic Access Control uses the power of computers to resolve the limitations of mechanical locks and keys. The electronic system determines whether to grant access to the protected area based on the permits/credentials presented and when these are presented. If access is granted, the door is unlocked for a predetermined period of time and the transaction is recorded. If access is denied, the door remains locked and the attempted access is recorded. The system will also monitor the door and sound an alarm if the door is forced or held open for too long after being unlocked.

In this way, modern Access Control systems provide answers to the following questions:

  • Who has entered or exited or used the system?
  • When has someone entered or exited or used the system?
  • Where has someone entered or exited or used the system?
  • Where has someone been active when using the system?
  • Precisely what has taken place?

In conjunction with our well-known worldwide partners AXESS TMC we can provide customers with a system that provides answers to the above questions.

Companies of all sizes use time and attendance processes to collect information about how much time their employees spend on the job. The most common tracking method provides an accurate indication of the time at which each employee reports to work and the number of hours spent in the workplace. Other companies collect detailed information on each work task or job performed during the day.

Time & Attendance Software allows companies to track and evaluate their employees’ performance and work activities using a single application. The software enables employers to track, store and organize the most important employee time- related information in a single place. Everything needed to track and monitor employee activities and management processes is available at any time on a computer.

GCC Computers Ltd now offers its own in-house developed, highly customizable Time & Attendance Suite, the e-TimeLog.
